Two Seasons, Two Strangers

Miyake Sho, Japan

旅と日々, 2025, 89 min, S

One summer, a young man and a woman (Takada Mansaku and Kawai Yuumi) meet on a beach in a small town where both are strangers. One winter, a Korean screenwriter living in Japan (EunKyung Shim) tries to regain her inspiration by taking a trip to the snowy mountains, ending up at an inn run by a grumpy hermit. Words fail them all, and they all suffer from loneliness.

Based on two manga by Tsuge Yoshiharu, the film is the fifth feature by director Miyake Sho (Small, Slow But Steady; All the Long Nights), known for his subtle, touching dramas. It won the Golden Leopard at Locarno Film Festival.
