The Sun Rises on Us All

Meiyun is struggling with her budget clothing store, an unplanned pregnancy and an unstable relationship with a married man. Her life gets even more complicated when her ex-boyfriend Baoshu suddenly returns to her life after being released from prison. Debts from the past compel Meiyun to take Baoshu in to live with her.
The intense relationship drama is ruthless in its narrative. Guangzhou’s hot, humid and lively streets provide a contrast to the gloomy inner landscapes of the characters. Minimalist music heightens the mood in select moments of the otherwise naturalistic soundscape and mise-en-scène.
